The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 created Man of a blood-clot. 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who has taught [man] the use of the pen 4 Taught man what he did not know. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 whenever he believes himself to be self-sufficient: 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 Have you seen one who prevents 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 What thinkest thou? If he were upon guidance 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Do you see how he has denied the truth and turned away from it? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
