The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 It will abase some and exalt others. 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 The mountains bruised and crushed, 5 becoming scattered dust, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In Gardens of Bliss: 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and how few of the later folk) 14 On thrones decorated, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of limpid drink. 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And companions with big beautiful eyes 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 and banana trees, 29 and shade extended, 30 and flowing water 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And on Thrones (of Dignity), raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For the Companions of the Right Hand. 38
