Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The indubitable event! 1 How awesome that laying-bare of the truth! 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 And as for A’ad, they were destroyed by a severe thundering windstorm. 6 Which Allah imposed on them for seven nights and eight days in succession, so that you could see men lying overthrown (destroyed), as if they were hollow trunks of date-palms! 7 Canst thou (O Muhammad) see any remnant of them? 8 Then came the Pharaoh, and those before him whose habitations were overthrown while they were committing crimes. 9 and they rebelled against the Messenger of their Lord, and He seized them with a surpassing grip. 10 We, when the water (of Noah's Flood) overflowed beyond its limits, carried you (mankind), in the floating (Ark), 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth and the mountains will be lifted up and crushed with a single crush. 14 Then on that Day shall happen the Event. 15 And the heaven shall cleave asunder, so that on that day it shall be frail, 16 The angels will stand on all its sides. And on that Day, eight (of them) will carry the Throne of your Lord above them. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 So as for he who is given his record in his right hand, he will say, "Here, read my record! 19 I was certain I'll be given my account." 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 In high empyrean 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But as for him who is given his book in his left hand, he shall say, 'Would that I had not been given my book 25 And knew not what my reckoning! 26 How I wish my death had ended all. 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 and my authority has vanished.” 29 (The stern command will say): "Seize ye him, and bind ye him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 Then fasten him with a chain seventy cubits long: 32 for he did not believe in Almighty God, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 That is why he has no friend today, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 that none excepting the sinners eat.' 37
