Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ The Inevitable Hour! 1 What is the sure calamity! 2 Ah, what will convey unto thee what the reality is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 Now as for the Thamud - they were destroyed by a violent upheaval [of the earth]; 5 and as for the 'Ad - they were destroyed by a storm wind furiously raging, 6 Which He imposed on them for seven long nights and eight long days so that thou mightest have seen men lying overthrown, as they were hollow trunks of palm-trees. 7 and dost thou now see any remnant of them? 8 The Pharaoh, those who lived before him and the people of the Subverted Cities all persisted in doing evil. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Verily! When the water rose beyond its limits [Nuh's (Noah) Flood], We carried you (mankind) in the floating [ship that was constructed by Nuh (Noah)]. 11 as a lesson for you, but only attentive ears will retain it. 12 Then when the Horn is blown with one blast 13 and the earth and the mountains are lifted up and crushed with a single blow, 14 And so, that which must come to pass will on that day have come to pass; 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 On its fringes will be angels, eight of them, bearing their Lord's throne aloft. 17 On that Day you will be brought to judgement and none of your secrets will remain hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 And he will be in a life of Bliss, 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 The Fruits whereof (will hang in bunches) low and near. 23 “Eat and drink with pleasure – the reward of what you sent ahead, in the past days.” 24 However, those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their left hands will say, "We wish that this record had never been given to us 25 and neither known this my account! 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 Of no avail to me is all that I have [ever] possessed, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 Then cast him into the burning fire, 31 then fasten him with a chain, seventy cubits long. 32 Surely he did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 nor did he urge the feeding of the needy. 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 and has no food except the filth from the washing of wounds, 36 None will eat it except the sinners. 37
