The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is torn apart, 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O Man! Thou art labouring unto thy Lord laboriously, and thou shalt encounter Him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his people full of joy. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yea indeed! His Sustainer did see all that was in him! 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 by the night and all that it envelops; 17 by the moon, in its fullness 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
