The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By oath of the heaven, and by oath of the nightly arriver. 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the shining star -- 3 There is no soul but that it has over it a protector. 4 So let man consider of what he was created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 that issues from between the loins and the ribs. 7 He certainly has the power to bring him back to life. 8 On the Day when man's deepest secrets shall be put to the test 9 Then will (man) have no power, nor any helper. 10 By the heaven with its recurring cycle of rain, 11 by earth splitting with verdure, 12 BEHOLD, this [divine writ] is indeed a word that distinguishes between truth and falsehood, 13 not a flippant jest. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I am plotting a plot. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
God the Almighty always says the truth.
