A 'araaf (Al-A 'araaf)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Alif Lam Mim Sad. 1 A book has been revealed to you, (Muhammad). You should not hesitate to convey its warning and its good advice to the believers. 2 Follow, [O mankind], what has been revealed to you from your Lord and do not follow other than Him any allies. Little do you remember. 3 How many towns have We destroyed (for their sins)? Our punishment took them on a sudden by night or while they slept for their afternoon rest. 4 and when Our scourge fell upon them, their only cry was, "We were indeed wrongdoers!" 5 (On the Day of Reckoning) We shall question the people to whom We had sent Our apostles, (if they followed their teachings), and will question the apostles. 6 Then We will surely relate [their deeds] to them with knowledge, and We were not [at all] absent. 7 The balance that day will be true (to nicety): those whose scale (of good) will be heavy, will prosper: 8 and he whose scales are light -- they have lost their soul for wronging Our signs. 9 We have established you in the earth and there appointed for you livelihood; little thanks you show. 10
