The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ WHEN THAT which must come to pass [at last] comes to pass, 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 abasing, exalting, 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 and become a dust, scattered, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And the companions of the left - what are the companions of the left? 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining thereon, face to face. 16 immortal youths going round about them 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And with fruit from that which they choose. 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 and wide-eyed houris 22 like hidden pearls, 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 but only the saying: 'Peace, Peace' 26 And the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 And [banana] trees layered [with fruit] 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 and abundant fruits, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And carpets raised. 34 and their spouses We shall have brought them into being afresh, 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 Loving companions matched in age, 37 For those on the right. 38
