The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 arise and warn, 2 Thy Lord magnify, 3 And thine raiment purify. 4 stay away from sins 5 do not bestow a favour in the expectation of receiving more in return; 6 And be patient for the sake of your Lord (i.e. perform your duty to Allah)! 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 It will be a day of distress, 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 and sons to be by his side, 13 And spread [everything] before him, easing [his life]. 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 We shall make him suffer the torment of hell without relief. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 But may he be cursed how he plotted; 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then looked he, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 Nothing more than the speech of a man!" 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 Burning the skins! 29 Over it are nineteen (angels as guardians and keepers of Hell). 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
