Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I CALL TO WITNESS the Day of Resurrection, 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Does man assume that We will never assemble his bones? 3 Surely yes, why not? We can properly make all his phalanxes. 4 But man desires to continue in sin. 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 So, when the sight shall be dazed, 7 and the moon is eclipsed, 8 when the sun and moon are gathered together 9 people will say, "Is there anywhere to run away?" 10 Certainly not! There will be no place of refuge. 11 For on that Day the refuge shall be to your Lord. 12 On that Day man will be informed of what he sent forward (of his evil or good deeds), and what he left behind (of his good or evil traditions). 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 Although he tender his excuses. 15 [Prophet], do not move your tongue too fast in your attempt to learn this revelation: 16 Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation. 18 Then it is for Us (Allah) to make it clear to you, 19 NAY, but [most of] you love this fleeting life, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Countenances on that Day shall be resplendent, 22 Looking to their Lord. 23 and some faces will on that Day be overcast with despair, 24 believing that a crushing calamity is about to strike them. 25 But, when (the soul) reaches the collar bone 26 and it is said: 'Who is a healing chanter' 27 And he is sure that it is the (hour of) parting 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
