The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven is sundered. 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 And when the earth has been extended 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 he who is given his record in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 but he will enter the blazing flame. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Indeed, he had thought he would never return [to Allah]. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do good; for them is a reward that shall never be cut off. 25
