And when thy Lord called Moses, saying: Go unto the wrongdoing folk, 10 "The people of the Pharaoh: will they not fear Allah?" 11 'My Lord' he replied, 'I fear they will belie me 12 I feel nervous and my tongue is not fluent, so send Aaron with me. 13 Moreover, they keep a grave charge [pending] against me, and I fear that they will slay me." 14 He said, “Not like this (any more); both of you go with Our signs, We are with you, All Hearing.” 15 Go to Pharaoh and say, 'We are the messengers of the Lord of the worlds, 16 [Commanded to say], "Send with us the Children of Israel."'" 17 [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] said [to Musa (Moses)]: "Did we not bring you up among us as a child? And you did dwell many years of your life with us. 18 “And you committed the deed of yours that you committed, and you were ungrateful.” 19 He (Moses) replied: 'Indeed, I did that when I was among those who stray. 20 Then I ran away from you in fear, but my Lord granted me the law and has appointed me as a Messenger. 21 “And is this some great reward for which you express favour upon me – that you have enslaved the Descendants of Israel?” 22 Pharaoh said: "And who is this Lord of the Universe?" 23 He said: Lord of the heavens and the earth and whatsoever is in-between, if ye seek to be convinced. 24 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said to those around: "Do you not hear (what he says)?" 25 Moses continued, "He is the Lord and the Lord of your forefathers." 26 Fir'aun (Pharaoh) said: "Verily, your Messenger who has been sent to you is a madman!" 27 Moses continued: "(He is) the Lord of the east and the west, and all between them. If you only had any understanding!" 28 Pharaoh said: "If you take any god other than me, I will certainly make you one of those (who are rotting) in prison." 29 (Moses) said: "Even if I showed you something clear (and) convincing?" 30 Said he: Bring it then, if you are of the truthful ones. 31 So Moses threw down his staff and suddenly it appeared as a serpent, plainly visible. 32 And he drew forth his hand, thereupon it shone bright before the beholders. 33
