The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking each other about? 1 About the great news - 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetables, 15 And dense gardens. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 We have kept account of everything in a book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
