The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The hour drew nigh and the moon did rend asunder. 1 And if they see a sign, they turn away, and say: "This is continuous magic." 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 far-reaching wisdom [was held out to them]: but [since] all warnings have been of no avail, 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter 6 With looks downcast they will come forth, from the tombs, as though they were locusts scattered abroad. 7 Rushing towards the caller; the disbelievers will say, “This is a tough day.” 8 ۞ [LONG] BEFORE those [who now deny resurrection] did Noah's people call it a lie; and they gave the lie to Our servant and said, "Mad is he!" - and he was repulsed. 9 So he invoked his Lord, "Indeed, I am overpowered, so help." 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 and caused the earth to gush with springs, so that the waters met for a predestined matter. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 That ran (upon the waters) in Our sight, as a reward for him who was rejected. 14 And We left it as a sign. Is there anyone who will be warned? 15 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 16 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will be warned? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 So how awesome were My chastisement and My warnings! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
