Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 and by the night when it recedes, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 it is a warning to man, 36 To whoever wills among you to proceed or stay behind. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Except those of the right hand 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 About the guilty: 41 "What has brought you into hell-fire?" 42 They will answer: We were not of those who prayed 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 until death approached us". 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 As if they were affrighted asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Nay, but everyone of them desireth that he should be given open pages (from Allah). 52 Nay, verily. They fear not the Hereafter. 53 Nay! it is surely an admonition. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 they will only take heed if God so wills: He is the Lord who is worthy to be feared: the Lord of forgiveness. 56
