I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 By the receding night 33 And the dawn when it shineth forth, 34 Lo! this is one of the greatest (portents) 35 Warn the men. 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save the People of the Right Hand 39 In gardens they will ask one another 40 About Al-Mujrimun (polytheists, criminals, disbelievers, etc.), (And they will say to them): 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 and we did not feed the poor, 44 "But we used to talk vanities with vain talkers; 45 and we cried lies to the Day of Doom, 46 "Until there came to us (the death) that is certain." 47 Then will no intercession of (any) intercessors profit them. 48 What is the matter with people that they are turning away from this Exhortation, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 Nay! but they do not fear the hereafter. 53 Nay, verily, this (Quran) is an admonition, 54 so whoever wills shall remember it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
