The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 About the great event, 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Verily, the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven will be opened – it therefore becomes like gates. 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
