The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the (angels) who tear out (the souls of the wicked) with violence; 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 A Day shall come whereon the quaking will quake, 6 And the second followeth it, 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 Their eyes humbled. 9 They say (now): "What! shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state? 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: Then that would be a vain proceeding. 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has Moses' story reached you? 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 Then Moses (went to Pharaoh and) showed him the Great Sign; 20 Yet he belied and disobeyed. 21 Then he went back hastily. 22 and gathered his people and declared: 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So God seized him with the chastisement of the Last World and the First. 25 surely there is in this a lesson for the God-fearing. 26
