He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and then turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 And he feareth 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and pious. 16 [But only too often] man destroys himself: how stubbornly does he deny the truth! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and palms 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 laughing and joyous 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
