The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 obeying its Lord, as it must do! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 He shall presently call for death, 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
