S (Saad)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Suad, I swear by the Quran, full of admonition. 1 Nay, but the unbelievers are steeped in arrogance and stubborn defiance. 2 Many a generation We did destroy before them – thereupon they cried out whereas it is not the time to escape! 3 And they marvel that a warner from among themselves hath come unto them, and the disbelievers say: This is a wizard, a charlatan. 4 Maketh he the gods One Allah? Lo! that is an astounding thing. 5 And their leading chiefs said: "Remain attached to your gods. There is surely some motive behind it. 6 We have not heard of any such thing in the old religion. This is nothing but a fabrication. 7 Has the reminder been revealed to him from among us? Nay! they are in doubt as to My reminder. Nay! they have not yet tasted My chastisement! 8 Or, have they the treasuries of the Mercy of your Lord, the Almighty, the Giving? 9 Or is it that the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is between them is theirs? If so, let them ascend up with means (to the heavens)! 10 The army is defeated as (were) the confederates. 11 Before them (were many who) rejected messengers,- the people of Noah, and 'Ad, and Pharaoh, the Lord of Stakes, 12 And the Thamud, the people of Lot, as well as the dwellers of the Wood, had denied. These were the hordes. 13 Each of them who rejected the Messenger become subject to Our punishment. 14
