'Lord, open my breast,' said Moses, 25 and make my task easy for me, 26 And loose a knot from my tongue. 27 that they may understand my speech. 28 and appoint for me, out of my kinsfolk, one who will help me to bear my burden: 29 Aaron, my brother. 30 By him confirm my strength 31 and let him share my task, 32 "That we may glorify You much, 33 “And profusely remember You.” 34 Surely You know us well." 35 He said: You are indeed granted your petition, O Musa 36 "And indeed We conferred a favour on you another time (before). 37 "Behold! We sent to thy mother, by inspiration, the message: 38 Saying: Put him into a chest, then cast it down into the river, then the river shall throw him on the shore; there shall take him up one who is an enemy to Me and enemy to him, and I cast down upon you love from Me, and that you might be brought up before My eyes; 39 When your sister went and said: Shall I direct you to one who will take charge of him? So We brought you back to your mother, that her eye might be cooled and she should not grieve and you killed a man, then We delivered you from the grief, and We tried you with (a severe) trying. Then you stayed for years among the people of Madyan; then you came hither as ordained, O Musa. 40 And I have attached thee to Myself. 41 "Go, thou and thy brother, with My Signs, and slacken not, either of you, in keeping Me in remembrance. 42 "Go, both of you, to Pharaoh, for he has indeed transgressed all bounds; 43 Speak to him gently. He may possibly take heed or may come to have fear." 44 The two said:" Lord! We fear he may commit excesses against us, or transgress all bounds." 45 [Allah] said, "Fear not. Indeed, I am with you both; I hear and I see. 46 So go ye unto him and say: Lo! we are two messengers of thy Lord. So let the children of Israel go with us, and torment them not. We bring thee a token from thy Lord. And peace will be for him who followeth right guidance. 47 It has been revealed to us that punishment will befall him who denies and turns away. 48 (When this message was delivered), (Pharaoh) said: "Who, then, O Moses, is the Lord of you two?" 49 He said: "Our Lord is He Who gave everything its form and then guided it." 50 Pharaoh asked: "Then, what is the state of the former generations?" 51 He (Moses) answered: 'The knowledge of them is in a Book with My Lord. My Lord neither goes astray, nor forgets. 52 It is God who has made the earth as a cradle for you with roads for you to travel. He has sent water from the sky to produce various pairs of plants. 53 So eat yourself and pasture your cattle. Surely there are many Signs in this for people of understanding. 54
