S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Sad, and by the Qur'an full of exhortation! 1 In fact, the disbelievers are in false pride and opposition. 2 How many generations have We destroyed before them. They called: 'The time is neither of escape, nor safety' 3 They were surprised that one of them had come to them as warner; and the unbelievers said: "He is a deceiving sorcerer. 4 What! makes he the gods a single Allah? A strange thing is this, to be sure! 5 And the leader among them go away (impatiently), (saying), "Walk ye away, and remain constant to your gods! For this is truly a thing designed (against you)! 6 We never heard of this in the former faith; this is nothing but a forgery: 7 To him of all of us has the Reminder been sent down?" They are still in doubt about My admonition; but they have not tasted My punishment yet! 8 Do they possess the treasures of the mercy of your, (Muhammad's), Lord, the Majestic and Munificent God? 9 Have they control over heavens and earth and whatever [lies] between them? Then let them climb up to heaven by ropes: 10 [They are but] soldiers [who will be] defeated there among the companies [of disbelievers]. 11 To the truth gave the lie aforetime Noah's people, and [the tribe of] Ad, and Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles, 12 And the tribe of Thamud, and the people of Lut, and the People of the Woods; these are the groups. 13 There was not one but belied the apostles, wherefore justified was My wrath. 14
