The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ The Compassionate. 1 who taught the Quran -- 2 has created man, 3 and has taught him articulate speech. 4 The sun and the moon to a reckoning, 5 And the herbs and the trees do prostrate (to Him). 6 and heaven -- He raised it up, and set the Balance. 7 That you not transgress within the balance. 8 And observe correct measure, weigh with justice, and not cheat the balance. 9 And the earth He has put for the creatures. 10 Wherein are fruit and sheathed palm-trees, 11 Grain with husk, and fragrant grasses. 12 So O men and jinns! Which favour of your Lord will you deny? 13 He created man of clay like, unto pottery. 14 And He created Jinns from fire free of smoke: 15 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 16 Lord of the two Easts, Lord of the two Wests. 17 Which is it, of the favours of your Lord, that ye deny? 18 He has let loosed the two seas (the salt water and the sweet) meeting together. 19 There is a barrier between them. They encroach not (one upon the other). 20 Which of the wonders of your Lord will you twain – you men and jinn – then deny? 21 Out of these two [bodies of water] come forth pearls, both great and small. 22 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 23 His are the ships with elevated sails upon the sea like mountains. 24 Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny? 25
