The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Woe unto the defrauders: 1 Those who, when they have to receive by measure from men, demand full measure, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 On a grievous day, 5 A Day when (all) mankind will stand before the Lord of the Worlds? 6 Nay! most surely the record of the wicked is in the Sijjin. 7 And what will make you know what Sijjin is? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe on that day to the rejecters, 10 Those who deny the Day of Judgment 11 None belies it except every guilty sinner. 12 When Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to him he says: "Tales of the ancients!" 13 No. In fact what they have been doing has rusted their hearts. 14 No indeed, on that Day they shall be veiled from their Lord. 15 Then indeed, they will [enter and] burn in Hellfire. 16 They will then be told: "This is what you had denied." 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 Would that you knew what Illiyin is! 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 The virtuous will live in bliss, 22 Reclining on couches, looking on. 23 On their faces you will see the glow of beatitude. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 which have the fragrance of musk. This is the kind of place for which one should really aspire. 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 The wicked used to laugh at the believers -- 29 when they passed by them they winked, 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 so today those who believe shall [be able to] laugh at those who denied the truth 34 as they (recline) upon their couches and gaze (around them). 35 Will not the infidels pay for what they had done? 36
