We were indeed gracious to Moses and Aaron, 114 and We delivered them and their people from the great distress. 115 And helped them, so they were victorious. 116 And We vouchsafed unto the twain a Book luminous. 117 And showed them the straight path, 118 and left for them among the later folk 119 Peace be upon Moosa and Haroon! 120 Thus do We reward the righteous ones. 121 They are among Our faithful devotees. 122 And verily, Iliyas (Elias) was one of the Messengers. 123 when he spoke [thus] to his people: "Will you not remain conscious of God? 124 Do you call on Ba'lan (the idol Baal) and abandon the Best Creator, 125 "Allah, your Lord and Cherisher and the Lord and Cherisher of your fathers of old?" 126 And they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment], 127 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 128 We left him thus to be succeeded by a group [of followers] among the following generations -- 129 Peace be upon Ilyas! 130 Verily, thus do We reward the Muhsinun (good-doers, who perform good deeds totally for Allah's sake only - see V. 2:112). 131 He was one of Our believing servants. 132 And indeed Lut is one of the Noble Messengers. 133 when We delivered him and his people all together, 134 Except his wife among those who remained [with the evildoers]. 135 Then We destroyed the others. 136 You pass by them in the morning 137 And at night. Then will you not use reason? 138
