The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 By the book inscribed. 2 On fine parchment unrolled, 3 And the House frequented, 4 and the roof uplifted 5 and the sea that is full 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 There is none who could avert it. 8 Upon the day when heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will pass on, departing - 10 So on that day, ruin is for those who deny. 11 Who play in talk of grave matters; 12 On the Day whereon they will be pushed into Hell-Fire with a dreadful push. 13 This is the fire which you used to give the lie to. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 “Enter it – now whether you patiently bear it or are impatient – it is the same for you; for you is a recompense only for what you used to do.” 16 [But,] verily, the God-conscious will find themselves [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Enjoying what their Lord has given them, and their Lord protected them from the punishment of Hellfire. 18 (And it is said unto them): Eat and drink in health (as a reward) for what ye used to do, 19 Reclining on thrones, in rows; and We have wedded them to maidens with gorgeous eyes. 20 And those who believed, and whose progeny also followed them in their faith, will be united with their offspring. We will not deprive them of their labour in the least. Every man is bound to what he does. 21 And We shall provide them with fruit and meat, such as they desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ They will be served by youths who will be as beautiful as pearls. 24 And some of them draw near to others, questioning. 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 But Allah has been gracious to us and He has saved us from the punishment of the hot wind: 27 Surely we called upon Him before: Surely He is the Benign, the Merciful. 28
