The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
The Last Day came near, and the moon split apart. 1 But if they see a Sign, they turn away, and say, "This is (but) transient magic." 2 And they denied and followed their inclinations. But for every matter is a [time of] settlement. 3 And surely there hath come unto them news whereof the purport should deter, 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 (Muhammad), leave them alone. On the day when they will be called to a terrible punishment, 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening toward the summoner; the disbelievers say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 And so he called unto his Lord, saying, 'I am vanquished; do Thou succour me!' 10 So We opened the gates of the cloud with water pouring 11 and We caused the earth to burst with gushing springs: so that the waters met for a purpose which had been decreed. 12 And We bare him on a thing of planks and nails. 13 Floating under Our Eyes, a reward for him who had been rejected! 14 And We left it for a sign. Is there any that will remember? 15 How terrible then was My punishment and My warning. 16 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 17 (The tribe of) A'ad rejected warnings. Then how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings. 18 We sent a tumultuous wind against them on a day of unremitting misfortune, 19 Which snatched away men as though they were palm trees pulled out by the roots. 20 How [dreadful] was My punishment and My warning! 21 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember? 22
