The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news - 2 About which they have been differing? 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 so that We may bring forth thereby grain and a variety of plants, 15 and gardens dense with foliage? 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Hell has been lying in wait 21 It will be a place of return 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 and they absolutely belied Our verses, 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 "So taste ye (the fruits of your deeds); for no increase shall We grant you, except in Punishment." 30
