Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Indeed, We sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Warn your people before there comes to them a painful punishment." 1 He said: "O my people! Verily, I am a plain warner to you, 2 “That you must worship Allah and fear Him, and obey me.” 3 “He will forgive you some of your sins, and give you respite up to an appointed term; indeed the promise of Allah cannot be averted when it arrives; if only you knew.” 4 He said: My Lord! Lo! I have called unto my people night and day 5 But all my calling doth but add to their repugnance; 6 “And whenever I called them, so that You may forgive them, they always thrust their fingers into their ears, and covered themselves with their clothes, and remained stubborn and were extremely haughty.” 7 Then I invited them publicly. 8 Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly 9 Then I said, "Ask forgiveness of your Lord. Surely He is the most forgiving. 10 He will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant, 11 and give to you wealth and sons, and provide you with gardens and rivers. 12 What aileth you that ye hope not toward Allah for dignity 13 seeing He created you by stages? 14 Have you not seen how Allah created the seven heavens one above the other, 15 and has set up within them the moon as a light [reflected] and set up the sun as a [radiant] lamp? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 And thereafter He will cause you to return thereinto, and He will bring you forth a forthbringing. 18 "'And God has made the earth a wide expanse for you, 19 "'That ye may go about therein, in spacious roads.'" 20
