The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By those (angels) that pluck out the soul from depths, 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the day when the first trumpet sound blasts 6 followed by the succeeding, 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 It will be only one scaring shout, 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 Has not there come to you the story of Musa? 15 Recall what time his Lord called unto him in the holy vale of Tuwa. 16 "Go to Pharaoh. Indeed, he has transgressed. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 ‘And I may guide you to your Lord, so that you may fear.’” 19 So Moosa showed him a magnificent sign. 20 But [Pharaoh] gave him the lie and rebelliously rejected [all guidance,] 21 Then he quickly turned his back. 22 then he mustered 23 And said, "I am your most exalted lord." 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
