Jinns (Al-Jinn)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ Say, "It has been revealed to me that a band of the jinn listened [to the Quran] and they said, "We have heard a really wonderful recital, 1 It guides to the right course, and we have believed in it. And we will never associate with our Lord anyone. 2 'And exalted be the Majesty of our Lord, He has taken neither a wife, nor a son (or offspring or children). 3 The dimwit one (the devil) among us has been telling confused lies about God. 4 We had in fact thought that men and jinns would never speak a lie about God, 5 Some men used to seek refuge with the jinn in the past, but that only increased their insolence. 6 Like you, they thought that Allah would never raise the dead. 7 And (the Jinn who had listened to the Qur'an said): We had sought the heaven but had found it filled with strong warders and meteors. 8 And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him: 9 'And we understand not whether ill is intended to those on earth, or whether their Lord (really) intends to guide them to right conduct. 10 For some of us are upright and some otherwise: Surely we follow different ways. 11 We know that we cannot frustrate Allah in the earth, nor can we frustrate Him by flight. 12 And that when we heard the guidance, we believed in it; so whoever believes in his Lord, he should neither fear loss nor being overtaken (by disgrace): 13 "'Yet [it is true] that among us are such as have surrendered themselves to God - just as there are among us such as have abandoned themselves to wrongdoing. Now as for those who surrender themselves to Him - it is they that have attained to consciousness of what is right; 14 But as for the unjust, they will be, for Hell, firewood.' 15 And had they kept to the path surely We would have watered them with rain plenteous. 16 and tested them with it. And whosoever turns away from his Lord's Remembrance, He will hurl him into a stern punishment. 17 Mosques belong to Allah, so do not call to anyone else, other than Allah. 18 "Yet when the Devotee of Allah stands forth to invoke Him, they just make round him a dense crowd." 19
