The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And thine Lord magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 and do not think that by doing such deeds, you have done a great favor to God. 6 And for the sake of your Lord, patiently endure. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 Far from easy for the disbelievers. 10 Leave Me alone, (to deal) with the (creature) whom I created (bare and) alone!- 11 And then bestowed upon him ample means, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 then he is eager that I should do more. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 and I shall constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted;- 18 May he be condemned! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he looked round; 21 and then he frowns and glares, 22 then he retreated and grew proud 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 I will surely roast him in the Scorching. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It scorches the mortal. 29 and it has nineteen angelic keepers. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
