The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 And by those who gently draw out the souls of the blessed, 2 And who glide with ease. 3 by those that outstrip them suddenly, 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the day when the trembling one will tremble. (The disbelievers will certainly taste the punishment.) 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 Hearts, that Day, will tremble, 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They are [presently] saying, "Will we indeed be returned to [our] former state [of life]? 10 even after we have been reduced to bones, hollow and rotten?” 11 They say: "It would, in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 So that is not but a single shout. 13 And lo! they all shall appear on the surface. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 "Go unto Pharaoh - for, verily, he has transgressed all bounds of what is right 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 Do you want me to guide you to your Lord, so that you should fear Him?'" 19 Moses showed him the great sign, 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 and then he turned back to have recourse to his craftiness, 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 But Allah did punish him, (and made an) example of him, - in the Hereafter, as in this life. 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
