The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ruin is for the defrauders. (Those who measure less.) 1 Who, when they take a measure from people, take in full. 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do not these think that they shall be raised again 4 For a mighty day, 5 The day all mankind will stand before the Lord of all the worlds? 6 No indeed; the Book of the libertines is in Sijjin; 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 It is a written book. 9 Woe, that Day, to the deniers, 10 those that give the lie to the Day of Recompense. 11 None denies it but the sinful transgressors. 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning. 14 Nay! most surely they shall on that day be debarred from their Lord. 15 Then verily they will be roasted into the Scorch. 16 and they will be told, "This is what you were wont to belie." 17 No indeed; the book of the pious is in Illiyun; 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 It is a comprehensively written Book (of records). 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 upon couches gazing; 23 You will recognize in their faces the radiance of pleasure. 24 They are given to drink of a pure wine, sealed, 25 Its seal is upon musk; and for this should those who crave be eager. 26 and whose mixture is Tasnim, 27 a fountain at which the chosen ones shall drink. 28 Those in sin used to laugh at those who believed, 29 And when they passed by them, they winked at one another. 30 And when they returned to their own people, they would return jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: verily these are the strayed ones. 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So today the believers are laughing at the unbelievers, 34 upon couches gazing. 35 Have the unbelievers been rewarded what they were doing? 36
True are the words of God the Almighty.
