The Thamud (also) rejected (their) Warners. 23 So they said: What! a single mortal from among us! Shall we follow him? Most surely we shall in that case be in sure error and distress: 24 Was he the one of all of us to have been given the exposition? He is surely an impudent liar." 25 It was said to Saleh, “They will soon realise tomorrow who is the mischievous great liar.” 26 We shall send the she-camel as a trial for them; so watch their end with patience. 27 And tell them that the water is to be divided between them, each drink for each in turn. 28 But they called their companion, and he dared and hamstrung [her]. 29 So how did My punishment turn out, and My warnings? 30 Then We sent a single blast against them and they became like dry stubble which has been trampled upon. 31 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 32 The people of Lot rejected Our warnings. 33 Verily, We sent against them a violent storm of stones (which destroyed them all), except the family of Lout (Lot), whom We saved in last hour of the night, 34 A favor from Us; thus do We reward him who gives thanks. 35 And he indeed had warned them of Our blow, but they did doubt the warnings. 36 they even wanted to seduce his guests -- but We blinded them, and said, "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" -- 37 And verily, an abiding torment seized them early in the morning. 38 "Taste My punishment now that you have scorned My warnings!" 39 We have made the Koran an easy Remembrance, is there any that will remember! 40
