The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the foremost in the race, the foremost in the race: 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 a large group of the early believers, 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Round about them will (serve) youths of perpetual (freshness), 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 except each other's greetings of, "Peace be with you". 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They shall recline on high amidst lote trees without thorns 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and continuous shade, 30 Gushing water, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 Whose season is not limited, and their supply will not be cut off, 33 And raised couches; 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 full of love, well-matched 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
