Al-Waaqe'ah 2 of 3
A throng of the ancients 39 And a multitude of those of later time. 40 BUT AS FOR those who have persevered in evil - what of those who have persevered in evil? 41 (they shall live) amid burning winds and boiling water, 42 and the shadow of a smoking blaze 43 Neither cool nor agreeable. 44 Indeed they were among favours before this. 45 And they have been persisting in the heinous offence. 46 ever saying, 'What, when we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we indeed be raised up? 47 Will our ancient forefathers be resurrected too? 48 Say thou: verily the ancients and those of later generations: 49 Will all be brought together to the tryst of an appointed day. 50 and then, verily, O you who have gone astray and called the truth a lie, 51 you will indeed have to taste of the tree of deadly fruit, 52 Then will fill your bellies with it. 53 Then drink over it of boiling water; 54 and you will drink as the lapping of thirsty camels. 55 This shall be their entertainment on the Day of Requital. 56 WE who have created you, [O men:] why, then, do you not accept the truth? 57 Do ye then see?- The (human Seed) that ye throw out,- 58 Is it you who create it (i.e. make this semen into a perfect human being), or are We the Creator? 59 We have decreed Death to be your common lot, and We are not to be frustrated 60 that We may exchange the likes of you, and make you to grow again in a fashion you know not. 61 And assuredly ye have fully known the first production wherefore heed ye not? 62 Have you ever considered the seed which you cast upon the soil? 63 Do you yourselves sow it, or are We the Sowers? 64 If We will We can make it like dry trampled hay, so you would keep crying out. 65 Surely we are burdened with debt: 66 Indeed, we have been deprived of the fruits of our labour." 67 Tell Me! The water that you drink. 68 Is it you that send it down from the clouds or We? 69 Did We will, We would make it bitter; so why are you not thankful? 70 Have you considered the fire you kindle? 71 Did you produce the tree that serves as fuel or do We? 72 We have made it as a reminder of hell and as a utility for travellers in the jungle. 73 Therefore glorify the name of your Lord, the Great. 74

عند قراءة القرآن الملون في وضعية اللغة العربية المرسومة بالأحرف الإنجليزية، قد لا تلاحظ وجود منظومة برمجية مصممة لمطابقة متطلبات علامات الوقف في النص العربي الأصلي. فكما تعلم، يحتوي القرآن على خمسة أنواع رئيسية من علامات الوقف. (1) وقف لازم، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي نقطة وقف. (2) وقف جائز مع الوقف أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلثين. (3) وقف جائز مع تساوي أولوية الوقف والوصل، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال النصف للنصف. (4) وقف جائز مع الوصل أولى، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة قد تظهر باحتمال الثلث. (5) وقف المجاذبة أو المعانقة حيث يجب الوقف في أي من موضعين قريبين ولكن ليس كلاهما، حيث يستخدم الرسم الإنجليزي فاصلة تظهر في أحد الموقعين باحتمال النصف للنصف.
When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
