The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 Arise, and warn, 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 And your clothing purify 4 shun uncleanness; 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 that will surely be a hard day, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Let Me alone with him whom I created lonely. 11 And to whom I granted extensive wealth 12 And sons present by his side. 13 And for whom I smoothed everything. 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 On him I shall impose a fearful doom. 17 For he had thought and calculated. 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, death seize him, how he determined! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned and grimaced. 22 Then turned his back and waxed proud, 23 and said: 'This is no more than traced sorcery; 24 This is nothing but the word of mortal man!" 25 Him shall I soon roast in Hell. 26 And what will make you know exactly what Hell-fire is? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 We have not appointed any one but angels as keepers of Hell, and their number that We have fixed is to make it a means of contention for disbelievers, so that those who were given the Book may be certain, and the faith of the believers may have greater increase, and the people of the Book and believers may not be deceived, and the sceptics and infidels may say: "What does God mean by this parable?" That is how God leads whosoever He will astray, and guides whosoever He will. None knows the armies of your Lord save Him self. This is no more than reminder for mankind. 31
