Noah (Nooh)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Lo! We sent Noah unto his people (saying): Warn thy people ere the painful doom come unto them. 1 He said: "O my People! I am to you a Warner, clear and open: 2 Worship Allah, and fear Him, and obey me. 3 He will forgive you your sins and respite you till an appointed term. When the term of Allah arrives it cannot be deferred; if you but knew' 4 'My Lord' said he, 'night and day I have called my nation, 5 "But all my calling added nothing but to (their) flight (from the truth). 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 "And behold I called unto them openly; 8 Then I announced to them and [also] confided to them secretly 9 and told them, "Ask forgiveness from your Lord; He is All-forgiving". 10 He will shower upon you heavenly blessings abundant, 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 What has come upon you that you do not fear the majesty of God, 13 While He has created you in (different) stages [i.e. first Nutfah, then 'Alaqah and then Mudghah, see (VV. 23:13, 14) the Quran]. 14 Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another, 15 and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp? 16 ‘And it is Allah Who made you grow like vegetation from the earth.’ 17 how He will then return you to it and bring you forth again, 18 And Allah has made for you the earth wide spread (an expanse). 19 so that you might walk thereon on spacious paths.'" 20
