And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people, “What do you worship?” 70 They said: We worship idols, so we shall be their votaries. 71 He asked: "Do they hear you when you call them 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 He said, “Do you see these – (the idols) whom you worship?” 75 you, and your elderly fathers? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 who created me, and Himself guides me, 78 and He gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I am sick, then He restores me to health 80 "And Who will cause me to die, and then will bring me to life (again); 81 and who, [hope, will forgive me my faults on Judgment Day! 82 My Lord: Grant me wisdom, and join me with the good 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And make me of the heirs of the garden of bliss 85 And forgive my father. Indeed, he has been of those astray. 86 and disgrace me not on the Day when people will be raised to life, 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 except for him who comes to God with a pure heart. 89 And Paradise will be brought near to the Muttaqun (pious - see V. 2:2). 90 And Hellfire will be brought forth for the deviators, 91 And it shall be said to them: Where are those that you used to worship; 92 besides God? Can they help you or even help themselves?" 93 So they shall be thrown down into it, they and the erring ones, 94 and the hosts of Iblis, all together. 95 And they will say, and they will be quarrelling in it: 96 "'By Allah, we were truly in an error manifest, 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 "'And our seducers were only those who were steeped in guilt. 99 so now we have no intercessors, 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 But if we could but once return, we would be of the believers. 102 Verily in this is a Sign but most of them do not believe. 103 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 104
