Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Many faces will be contrite on that day, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets set forth 14 well-placed cushions, 15 And linen spread out. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 You are not over them a controller. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
