The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night when it covers 1 and by the day when it breaks in its glory, 2 and by that (Power) which created the male and female, 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 As for him who gives (in charity) and keeps his duty to Allah and fears Him, 5 for those who spend for the cause of God, 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 And for him who hoarded wealth and remained carefree, 8 And denied the best matter, 9 Unto him therefore We shall Indeed make easy the path to hardship. 10 And what will his wealth benefit him when he goes down (in destruction). 11 Surely, in Our hands is guidance, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 I have warned you about the fierce blazing fire 14 in which none shall be roasted except the most wretched sinner, 15 even he who cried lies, and turned away; 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 Who giveth his wealth that he may grow (in goodness). 18 And none hath with him any favour for reward, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.

When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
