The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By oath of (mount) Tur. 1 And by oath of a passage, written – 2 On an open record. 3 By the House Frequented. 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Indeed, the punishment of your Lord will occur. 7 there is none to prevent it. 8 On the Day when the heaven will shake with a dreadful shaking, 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 the day when they shall be pitched into the fire of Gehenna: 13 (And it is said unto them): This is the Fire which ye were wont to deny. 14 Is this magic, or do ye not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Those who fear God and follow the straight path will surely be in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing because of what their Lord gave them, and their Lord saved them from the punishment of the burning fire. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 They will be reclining on thrones lined up, and We will marry them to fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 We shall provide them in abundance with such fruit and meat as they desire. 22 They shall pass on to one another a cup that will incite neither levity nor sin. 23 ۞ And they will be waited upon by [immortal] youths, [as if they were children] of their own, [as pure] as if they were pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say: "Behold, aforetime - when we were [still living] in the midst of our kith and kin - we were full of fear [at the thought of God's displeasure]: 26 but Allah has been gracious to us and has protected us from the punishment of the burning wind. 27 Verily, we did invoke Him [alone] ere this: [and now He has shown us] that He alone is truly benign, a true dispenser of grace!" 28
