The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 And you shall be three sorts. 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 The third to the fore shall be the foremost. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On thrones woven [with ornament], 15 Reclining face to face. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With bowls and ewers and a cup from a pure spring 18 that will neither make the head throb, nor intoxicate, 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like unto pearls [still] hidden in their shells. 23 Reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 NOW AS FOR those who have attained to righteousness - what of those who have attained to righteousness? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 and extended shade, 30 near to flowing water 31 and abundant fruits, 32 unfailing and not forbidden. 33 on raised couches. 34 Verily We! We have created those maidens by a creation. 35 and made them virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 for those on the Right, 38
