Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ OH, THE LAYING-BARE of the truth! 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what shall make thee know that which the Inevitable Calamity is. 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the awful cry! 5 And as for A'ad, they were destroyed by a fierce roaring wind, 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 And they disobeyed the Apostle of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment. 10 Indeed when the water swelled up, We boarded you onto the ship. 11 so that We might make it a reminder for you and so that attentive ears might retain it. 12 When the single blast is sounded on the trumpet, 13 and the earth and the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with a single stroke! 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 And the heaven will split asunder – so on that day it will be unstable. 16 and the angels [will appear] at its ends, and above them, eight will bear aloft on that Day the throne of thy Sustainer's almightiness… 17 That will be the Day when you shall be brought forth (before Allah) and no secret of yours shall remain hidden. 18 Those who will receive the books of the records of their deeds in their right hands will say, "Come and read my record. 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 The fruits in bunches whereof will be low and near at hand. 23 (And it will be said unto those therein): Eat and drink at ease for that which ye sent on before you in past days. 24 But whosoever gets his ledger in his left hand, will say: "Would that I were never given my ledger, 25 “And had never come to know my account!” 26 "I wish, would that it had been my end (death)! 27 My wealth has availed me nothing: 28 I am bereft of power." 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 “Then hurl him into the blazing fire.” 31 and then thrust him into a chain [of other sinners like him - a chain] the length whereof is seventy cubits: 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 and so, no friend has here today, 35 Nor any food save filthy corruption. 36 which none but the sinners eat!" 37
