The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 By the meteors rushing, 2 And those who glide swimmingly, 3 and vie with the others (in carrying out their Lord's behests); 4 And by those angels who arrange to do the Commands of their Lord, (so verily, you disbelievers will be called to account). 5 On the day when the first trump resoundeth. 6 And the second followeth it, 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They shall say, 'What, are we being restored as we were before? 10 Even if we should be decayed bones? 11 and they say, "That indeed would be a losing return." 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say, "Hast thou the will to purify thyself; 18 And I will guide you to your Lord so that you should fear. 19 So he showed him the mighty sign. 20 But he rejected (the truth) and disobeyed. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 And assembled (his council) and proclaimed, 23 and proclaimed, and he said, 'I am your Lord, the Most High!' 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the Everlasting Life, and of this world. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
