The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 But when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do such people not realize that they will be raised up, 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The day on which men shall stand before the Lord of the worlds? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what will explain to thee what Sijjin is? 8 A record of misdeeds written. 9 Woe on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth 10 Who give the lie to the day of judgment. 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 When you recite Our verses to him, he says, “Stories of earlier men!” 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 then they shall roast in Hell. 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 Surely the ledger of the pious will be in 'Illiyun (heights above the heights). 18 And what will make you know what the highest Iliyin is? 19 It is a Book inscribed, 20 Which is witnessed by the close ones. 21 Surely the pious shall be in bliss, 22 resting on couches, looking around. 23 You can trace on their faces the joy of their bliss. 24 as they are given to drink of a wine sealed 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 and its mixture is Tasneem, 27 A spring whereof drink those nearest to Allah. 28 Verily those who have sinned were wont at those who had believed to laugh, 29 when they passed by them, they would wink at one another; 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 and whenever they see those [who believe,] they say: "Behold, these [people] have indeed gone astray!" 32 But they had not been sent as keepers over them! 33 On the Day of Judgment, the believers will laugh at the disbelievers 34 On thrones, they will look. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
