The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By the star when it plunges, 1 your companion is neither astray, neither errs, 2 Nor doth he speak of (his own) desire. 3 It is no less than inspiration sent down to him: 4 The Lord of Mighty Power has taught him, 5 Endued with Wisdom: for he appeared (in stately form); 6 the strong one who appeared on the uppermost horizon. 7 Then he approached and descended 8 So he was the measure of two bows or closer still. 9 and revealed to God's servant what he revealed. 10 The heart was not untrue in (making him see) what he saw. 11 will you, then, contend with him as to what he saw? 12 And indeed, he saw him a second time 13 Nigh unto the lote-tree at the boundary. 14 Nigh thereto is the Garden of Abode. 15 (This was) when the lote-tree was covered with that which covered it. 16 Neither did sight falter nor exceed the bounds. 17 Certainly he saw of the greatest signs of his Lord. 18 Have you then considered the Lat and the Uzza, 19 And Manat, the third - the other one? 20 What, have you males, and He females! 21 This is certainly an unjust apportioning. 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Or shall man have what he wishes? 24 despite the fact that [both] the life to come and this present [one] belong to God [alone]? 25
