The Moon (Al-Qamar)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
The Hour hath drawn nigh, and the moon hath been rent in sunder. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They have belied, and follow their own fancies. But, every issue will be settled! 3 Tidings containing a deterrent have come to them 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 Their eyes cast down, going forth from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening, with eyes transfixed, towards the Caller!- "Hard is this Day!", the Unbelievers will say. 8 ۞ The people of Noah cried lies before them; they cried lies to Our servant, and said, 'A man possessed!' And he was rejected. 9 Then he invoked his Lord (saying): "I have been overcome, so help (me)!" 10 And We opened up the flood gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 and caused the earth to burst forth with springs, so that the waters met for a purpose pre-ordained: 12 but him We bore on that [vessel] made of [mere] planks and nails, 13 which floated on the water before Our very eyes. The flood was a recompense for the deeds of the disbelievers. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 How terrible was My torment and the result of (their disregard) of My warning. 16 And We have certainly made the Qur'an easy for remembrance, so is there any who will remember? 17 'Ad (people) belied (their Prophet, Hud), then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 18 And We sent against them a howling wind in a Day of continuous of ill fortune 19 Tearing men away as if they were the trunks of palm-trees torn up. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And We have indeed made the Qur’an easy to memorise, so is there one who would remember? 22
